iELMS - Daytona International - Race Report

Updated: Jul 21, 2020

The Daytona International Road course proved a tricky circuit to attack in a multiclass race, and our LMP1 drivers rose to the challenge very well this weekend.

In Saturdays race the Red team of Niels & Thomas showed their class while maintaining a narrow lead early on in the race. while competing for the win continually throughout. Only a communication malfunction would hold them back, finishing P2. A promising finish as the win was still in sight as the checkered flag was waved. A truly inspiring end result for a near flawless effort.

Sunday proved to be dangerous beast. Nicholas & Gas, EleveN9 Simsport - White, at times could only try to survive the crazy driving around them. Unfortunately, they were twice caught up in unavoidable contact. Charging from behind they soldiered on, and with the perseverance in which they have shown many times this season, they were able to drive themselves all the way back to a solid P2 finish.

Sunday also saw the LMP1 debut of our Italian prodigy, Marco Marozzi, for EleveN9 Simsport - Red. While the car was very unlucky to be skittled from behind during the opening stint, there were shades of promise shown in a determined drive back to P11 in the top split. We predict some positive things on the horizon for the LMP1 teams and Marco.
